Long Time No Post!

Hi Friends,
I know it's been a long time since you've heard from me, and Mom and I have received a number of comments and e-mails inquiring about my well-being. Thank you for checking up on me, it makes me feel special, and I want you to know that I am a-okay! It's been a fairly quiet winter for me with lots of indoor fetch sessions, but the REAL reason things have been so quiet on our end is that Mom and Dad have been busy preparing for the upcoming arrival of a new addition to our family...I'll be meeting my human baby sister in just a couple of months!

It's been warming up here in Boston, and Mom's been promising me she'll take me out more regularly so I hope to update more often. In the meantime, if any of you happen to be on Instagram, please check me out! My username is buttersnmargarine. Hope to see some of you there, otherwise I'll catch y'all soon! Hope you have all been well, I miss my blog buddies!!

Phew! Apparently My Family Isn't the Only Awkward Family

I know I said I wasn't a clothing-loving pup, but this chilly weather has turned me into a shivering, whiney baby! Mom and I went shopping and she bought me a couple sweaters to wear around the house. I haven't been playing outside as much either, which is a bummer, but when the sun comes out we try to head to the park for a quick game of fetch.
For the most part though, my family's been hanging IN, spending quality time with each other. The other day, a package came for Mom. She opened it and pulled out a book with a funny picture on the cover.
She sat on the couch for an hour, reading it and laughing by herself. (weirdo) That evening, curious Dad saw the book on the coffee table and started flipping through it. Within 5 minutes, he was hysterically crying...tears of laughter! WHAT is this book, you ask? Awkward Family Pet Photos by Mike Bender and Doug Chernack! It's a spinoff of the popular website www.awkwardfamilyphotos.com, which at one point a couple years ago kept Mom entertained for days and days. But this book's better because it incorporates families and their pets! Check out their website www.awkwardfamilypetphotos.com for a sneak peek.
Mom and Dad love the book because it makes them laugh. Me? I love it because it's reassuring to know my family isn't the only wacky pet-loving family out there. The book was released today, and would make a GREAT gift for any animal lovers in your life. Maybe some day I'll feel comfortable enough to post an awkward photo of my family, but for now, I'll just leave you with an awkward photo of me in my new sweater...

P.S. Our friends at Random House were kind enough to send us a copy of the book to review, but aside from that, we weren't compensated in any way.

Meet My Friends Series (and please don't call the animal police on me)...

*psssst* (whisper) hello? Anybody there? Anybody? Anybody? Sorry friends, it's been a while since my last post, I missed you all! Mom got busy and as a result, my blog was neglected. I'll try to make sure that doesn't happen again.
I wanted to introduce you to the friends I play with when I'm at home. Mom and Dad say they feel sorry for my pals because they have all suffered some type of major trauma...whatever that means. I'll let you judge for yourselves.
Today, I'd like you to meet Ellie (short for Elephant)!
Ellie is missing an arm because I may (or may not) have bitten it off, but we still love each other! Mom isn't much of a seamstress, but when Grandma was visiting, she was nice enough to sew Ellie's wound shut, so now Ellie looks as good as new! (well, minus an arm)
Ellie is probably my favorite toy - Mom only takes out two toys a day for me to play with and Ellie is always one of them. I love to carry Ellie around the house in my mouth, and when I want to make him squeak, I headbutt him in the tummy!
Tomorrow, I'll be introducing another one of my pals...Monkey!
By the way, do any of you know your toys by name? I know all of mine, which Mom thinks is pretty crazy and weird. Who you callin' crazy and weird, lady? I mean, how can these guys be my friends if I don't even know their names??! Sheesh. Humans.

Tasty Tuesday: Weekend Meal Recap

In honor of Tasty Tuesday, I thought I'd share what I ate this weekend.
While Mom and Dad had corn, porcini, and morel mushroom risotto, I had raw bison. The next night Mom and Dad had fried rice with miso soup, and you guessed it...I had raw bison. Sigh...see? I told you, it ain't easy being me.

Sunny Days...

Happy Monday, friends! Hope you all had a great weekend. It was pretty chilly here in Boston, but since the sun was still out, Mom, Dad and I were determined to get outside and enjoy it!
Saturday we headed to a new spot called Castle Island, thanks to a tip from my friend Sammi, who I'm looking forward to meeting someday! Sadly, we never even knew there were beaches right in the city of Boston! So cool! Castle Island is a neat area in South Boston that has a beach, a walkway that runs alongside the water, and an adjacent park with lots and lots of grass (i.e. space for me to run around!). We walked around the park, played fetch, and walked along the water before heading home.
Sunday was the Somerville Dog Festival, which as I mentioned before, is an event that benefits the Animal Rescue League of Boston. The festival took place inside a huge enclosed park - there were stands for local pup businesses, an obedience ring where some very impressive demonstrations took place, a main stage for a doggie fashion show, a dog-owner look-alike contest, and best trick contest, and a separate agility ring where dogs like me could test out our agility skills! It was a fantastic day, and we even ran into some of my pup friends! Unfortunately, Mom was to engrossed in all the activities and forgot to take more pictures (sheesh, what IS she good for?) but I guess sometimes she's allowed to have her fun too. That's all, folks! Have a great day!
